Veolia, global leader in optimised resource management, has won a 20 year contract with Irish Water which includes an €18.4 million upgrade in waste water infrastructure in Co. Donegal. The design, build and operation contract consists of the upgrading of the facility at Convoy and building three new facilities at Killybegs, Bundoran, and Glencolumbkille.

In total the facilities will be able to treat 20,700 person equivalents (p.e) of waste water and include the upgrade of pumping stations and improved sewage network. The new contract will ensure the EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive standards are met.

The contract work will begin in January with construction scheduled to start in the Spring. The contract allows a period of 24 months for the completion of the construction.

Pat Gilroy, Country Director, Veolia Ireland said, “Helping Ireland to manage its precious natural resources is our priority for 2016. Together we will work with Irish Water to support this upgrade in waste water treatment  infrastructure which also builds in increased capacity to allow for economic growth.”
