The nominees, including AbbVie, Astellas Kerry, Gilead Sciences Ireland, MSD Ireland and Pfizer Newbridge demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability within Ireland's thriving Life Sciences sector. Fergus Elebert, Veolia's Regional Director for Energy and Utilities Management, will announce the winner at the Awards Gala on 24 February 2026 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road. **Veolia’s new on-island N₂O (Nitrous Oxide) treatment solution is shortlisted for both the Green Transformation Award and the Green Technology Award at the 2026 Green Awards.** This innovative solution addresses a critical environmental challenge: Nitrous Oxide is a greenhouse gas 273 times more harmful than carbon dioxide, and thousands of canisters enter Ireland’s waste stream each year from healthcare, catering, and other sectors. **Over 25 tonnes of nitrous oxide treated in 2025** **6,972 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions saved** **Until now, Ireland lacked a local solution for treating this potent greenhouse gas.** Veolia’s new system, the first of its kind on the island, adapts hospital-grade catalytic technology for industrial-scale use, safely decomposing N₂O into harmless nitrogen and oxygen. The process is highly efficient, with the heat generated during decomposition sustaining the reaction and ensuring strong energy performance.
