Veolia and Aut Even Hospital are delighted to have won the SME category at the annual SEAI Sustainable Energy Awards.
Aut Even Hospital asked Veolia to provide a solution that would help them use energy in a more efficient, reliable and sustainable way. The hospital also required a more reliable source of hot water, utility and electricity supply.
As part of a 10 year fully financed energy performance contract between Veolia and Aut Even Hospital we:
- Redesigned the entire heating system
- Upgraded and relocated the boiler house
- Replaced over-sized calorifiers
- Connected zoned heating controls to the Building Management System (BMS)
- Delivered a full campus LED lighting upgrade (external and internal)
- Eliminated heat loss from unnecessary pipework
- Enabled Demand Side Unit / Smart Grid technology
- Implemented real time energy monitoring system through our Hubgrade platform

18% reduction in electricity consumption
263 tonnes of CO2 avoided annually
The project incorporated an SEAI grant of 30% through the Better Energy Communities Scheme.
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s (SEAI) Energy Awards encourage and reward excellence in energy management. 32 organisations across nine categories were shortlisted and the awards were presented at the gala Awards ceremony on 25 October 2018.

“The SEAI Energy Awards celebrate the absolute best of Ireland’s sustainable energy achievements. They are a vivid demonstration of how Irish business, communities and public organisations are pushing the boundaries in energy efficiency and the switch to clean energy. The 80 plus entrants in this year’s Awards have made energy savings of €38 million and they are responsible for €30m in energy generated from renewables, which is equivalent to powering 166,000 homes.”
