​Veolia and Irish Water sign water infrastructure contract for Kingscourt

Veolia has won a 27 month Design and Build contract with Irish Water to upgrade the water infrastructure at Kingscourt, County Cavan.

Veolia, the global leader in optimised resource management, has won a 27 month Design and Build contract, which includes a 1 year Operations Phase, with Irish Water to upgrade the water infrastructure at Kingscourt, County Cavan. The work will enhance the performance of the plant to treat the increased demand over the next few years, provide better use of resources, and boost local sustainability.

The County Development plan recognises that provision of high quality efficient water services will contribute to the long-term environmental and economic development of the County. To support this aim the new contract will upgrade the Kingscourt Water Treatment Plant to improve quality and resilience, and ensure compliance with the Water Framework Directive. It will also help meet the future needs of the County’s expanding population.

Under the contract Veolia will deliver a wide range of solutions including borehole pumping, direct coagulation, first stage filtration, Oxidation, second stage filtration, disinfection, PH correction, fluoridation and wash-water  treatment. The service will be delivered by Veolia’s local engineering team and is expected to begin in June 2016.
