Ecological Transformation Stakeholder Engagement Forum

A unique forum where business leaders come together with academics and other experts to discuss, develop and challenge ideas on how we can all cooperate to help tackle climate change and deliver Ecological Transformation.

Why do we need Ecological Transformation?

As leading practitioners in this space, Veolia recognises that truly addressing the challenges of climate change and creating sustainable business models requires a transformation in how we think and act. We are already taking some actions but more need to be taken. We already have some solutions but more need to be developed.

The global and local research that we have led and been involved in shows the desire is there and that radical collaboration is needed to achieve this.

We want to start that conversation in Ireland whereby representatives from our key stakeholder groups are brought together by Veolia to begin to scope out what becoming truly sustainable might look like.

We want to lay the foundations for Ireland, our customers, our partners and Veolia all being the benchmark in this space.

Never have environmental concerns been so instantly visible, or their consequences for our societies so real to people.

In a world faced with pressing environmental challenges, the need for ecological transformation has become more urgent than ever before. Embracing ecological transformation is not just an option but a necessity to safeguard the planet for current and future generations.

We held our working session on Scope 3 emissions on Tuesday 21st May in Veolia's offices in Blanchardstown.

Scope 3 is more complex than Scopes 1 and 2. Measuring and reporting on Scope 3 emissions is a major challenge for all organisations. Everyone who attended the session is conscious of the need to report on Scope 3 but how to do so in an efficient, effective and uniform way is the main challenge. How to resolve this is something we are looking to explore together.

The discussion summary and the slides can be downloaded here.

Our working session discussed government policy as a driver of change and was held on Tuesday 18th June in Marino Institue of Technology

Businesses need certainty from the government and clarity around easy ways to access the many supports available from the state. The government would like businesses to engage with them to show what can be done and what is being done.
